Revenue (× MLF)

Estimated $ per interval — energy (RRP) and FCAS (regional FCAS prices), both × MLF.

Methodology & assumptions

  • Dispatch & availability — AEMO Next Day Dispatch UNIT_SOLUTION (5‑minute intervals). Intervention intervals excluded.
  • Regional pricedispatch_price RRP matched by settlement time and NEM region (from generator registry).
  • Energy revenue (× MLF) — cleared MW × (5/60 h) × RRP × MLF.
  • FCAS revenue & volume — cleared FCAS MW from DISPATCHLOAD (raise/lower 6s, 60s, 5min, reg) × (5/60 h) × regional FCAS price × MLF. Volume is total FCAS enablement MWh across services.
  • Curtailment — estimated economic curtailment when availability exceeds dispatch target: max(0, availability − cleared) × (5/60) MWh.
  • Not settlement — estimates only. AEMO settlement applies DLF, rebids, constraints, and other factors not modelled here.

Financial overview

2026 real AUD. Monetary values are CPI-adjusted to 2026 real Australian dollars. Greenfield capex uses AEMO benchmarks when plant-specific cost is unknown.

Capex total (greenfield)
$300.00M

Shown in table
$300.00M (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Local reporting at construction commencement provides the selected nominal capex figure. It appears to describe the full 52-turbine project, but does not provide a detailed cost breakdown.

Capex refurbishment
Capex / MW derived
$2,814,259

Shown in table
$2.81M (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Derived unit capex equals approximately AUD 2.81 million/MW using the reported project cost and official capacity.

Fixed OPEX (annual)
$3.09M

Shown in table
$3.09M (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Annual fixed O&M is a derived technology-default estimate scaled to Bald Hills capacity.

Source recorded 04 Jun 2026

Fixed OPEX / MW-yr
$29,000

Shown in table
$29.0k (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Technology benchmark used because Bald Hills site-level O&M cost accounts were not found publicly.

Source recorded 04 Jun 2026

Variable OPEX / MWh
$0.00

Shown in table
$0.00 (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Variable O&M is set to zero as an incremental value because AEMO/GHD includes O&M in fixed opex for onshore wind.

Fuel cost / GJ
$0.00

Shown in table
$0.00 (2026 real AUD)

How this was derived
Wind is the energy source, so a fuel supply price per GJ is not applicable; zero is used for dispatch-cost modelling.

Heat rate GJ/MWh

How this was derived
Heat rate is a thermal generator metric and is not meaningful for a wind turbine generator.

Notes
Bald Hills is a 52 x 2.05 MW Senvion MM92 onshore wind farm with 106.6 MW total capacity, first export on 24 February 2015 and fully operational in May 2015. Publicly available project capex is conflicting: local reporting at construction start called it a $300 million project, while an ABC-sourced 2014 report described the project as $400 million and mentioned the 27 km grid-connection powerline; Power Technology reports $219.33m but the currency and basis are not clear. The financial_profile uses the $300 million nominal reported construction-start figure and flags medium confidence. Fixed and variable O&M, asset life and retirement/refurbishment assumptions are technology defaults from AEMO/GHD 2025 rather than Bald Hills financial accounts. Operational direct emissions and fuel cost are treated as zero for wind; heat rate and thermal efficiency are not meaningful for wind generation. Major operational/legal note: in March 2022 the Victorian Supreme Court ordered Bald Hills to abate night-time noise nuisance and pay $260,000 damages; this is an operating constraint/refurbishment-risk note, not a planned closure. No current public closure or repowering date was found.
