Frequently asked questions

Every SMS to every recipient counts separately, and triggered and cleared notifications each count. For example, an alert that triggers and then clears, sent to five team members, uses 10 SMS (assuming each message fits in one SMS). Our carrier bills long messages in segments — a standard SMS holds 160 characters (fewer if it contains special characters) — so a longer message can use more than one SMS. Our alert messages are written to fit in a single SMS.

We email you at 80% and 100% of your included SMS. When they're used up, SMS alerts pause and email alerts keep going, until your allowance renews — unless auto top-up is on. On Pro and Business, auto top-up (7c on Pro, 5c on Business) charges an amount you choose as soon as the included SMS run out, adds that many SMS, and emails the invoice straight away. You can turn it off or change the amount. It's separate from your subscription fee. Alerts that fire while SMS is paused aren't queued, so you never get a backlog of stale alerts.

You pay for 10 months and get 12. Your SMS allowance is still monthly: you get a fresh 500 (Pro) or 2,000 (Business) SMS each month, and unused SMS don't roll over. Any extra SMS you've opted into is billed monthly.

Yes. When you upgrade, downgrade or switch billing frequency, we show you exactly what will be charged or credited (prorated) and when the change takes effect before you confirm. If you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves to Free with your alerts intact.

We never delete your alerts. If you already have more than a plan includes, those alerts keep working — you just can't add another until you're back under the limit, or you upgrade. "Any state" alerts on Free are paused until you pick a single region or upgrade.

Everything in Pro for up to 5 people, with 2,000 SMS a month shared across the team: several recipients per alert, weekly on-call rosters, a REST API (60 requests a minute per key, 20,000 a day per account — see the API docs), signed webhooks for alert events, CSV exports and priority email support.
