GESS is a retrofit battery behind the existing point of connection of the Gannawarra Solar Farm. ARENA’s project summary identifies the battery as 25 MW / 50 MWh, completed 30 January 2022 / commenced operations in March 2019, and owned/operated by GESS ProjectCo Pty Ltd. The project summary report states the project was financed by Edify in a consortium with WIRCON as 50-50 joint venture co-investors and that ARENA and DELWP provided $25 million in grant funding. No reliable source found for a standalone greenfield total project cost for the battery itself; capex_total_aud is therefore inferred from the $25 million public grant plus an estimated matching private contribution, and should be reviewed if a project-specific investment figure becomes available.
